An original amateur production by gravityxunknown . The only time i grab a video from YouTube is when it looks like an original production posted by, apparently, the videographer himself/ herself on YouTube, or posted under his/her instruction (and i make sure i attribute it to the author/ producer). Original production means the person himself/herself shot the film (or compiled clips based on an original script or shot the photos for a slideshow or produced the slideshow), and posted it in YouTube (or posted for him/her).  That way, when you’re using someone’s original production, you more or less know he/she didn’t steal it but made it and posted it to share it with the world.       Shaky camera, a lot of ambient noise, not good audio (but strong voice from the musician). There are about 40 amateur videos of this, shot from different angles by fans; this videographer had the best angle although he/she was being jostled and blocked: the musician has the habit of tilting his head on this side of his face when he hits the big notes; none of the videographers captured it except this one (that side when the subject tilts his head). When there’s a lot of jostling and you’re not the talent manager, you control nothing. Standing at the right spot (being at the right place at the right time) when you don’t control anything, is sometimes the only thing that matters. Shaky nga lang!

      (sorry for this, i’m resting. It’s a lot of gibberish; let me qualify what i wrote: a lot of gibberish.)

From zero conviction out of 10 to 1.4 out of 10, Ombudsman. Say, what?! (the President’s SONA 2008)

The President in her SONA today said that the conviction rate of the Ombudsman increased by 500%!

The present conviction rate of the Office of the Ombudsman is 14% (14 convictions out of 97 cases), according to the latest report released by the supervising administrative officer of the office of the special prosecutor. See:     Ombudsman wages “invisible war” against some of her own prosecutors; is losing cases 8 out of 10

    In other words, out of 9.7 cases (or ten), the Ombudsman is winning 1.4 ( conviction) and 8.3 losses (acquittals).

       Since the President said the rate increased by 500% ; it means that the present rate of 14% is five times better than its previous record; or that the conviction rate of the Ombudsman improved by five times. In other words, the old number plus five times that old number, equals the new conviction rate.

       So,  a number,  plus 5 times that number, equals the present conviction rate of 14%.

        So, it’s:  (sorry for this, i had to break it down by figuring it manually and it was too long, the summary is; hwag ka na magalit):

             x + 5x = 14      (is this right)

                            6 x = 14

                              x = 2.3

                   Hwag ka na galit.

            It’s 2.3% previous conviction rate compared to the present 14%. (my  4th check). It means that the previous conviction rate was 2.3 wins (convictions) and 97.7 losses (acquittals) out of 100 cases. (check: 2.3 plus 5×2.3 = 14)

             Or 0.23 out of 10.

       Or out of ten cases, the Ombudsman was previously winning zero or 0.23.

       If you were transparent about it in your speech, you would have said:

         THE OMBUDSMAN WAS WINNING ZERO OUT OF TEN CASES OR 0.23 out of 10; NOW IT IS WINNING 1.4 OUT OF TEN CASES; AT LEAST IT’S WINNING ONE AND A HALF OUT OF TEN, OR AN INCREASE OF, YES, 500%. Yehey!
