Mayan apocalypse myths 12-21-12 : How Filipinos react to end-of-the-world rumors
“Fire and Ice
“Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.”
NASA scientists debunk rumors that the world will end tomorrow, 21-12-12 (21 December 2012), see video below.
Here’s how netizens, most of them Pinoys (Filipinos) react to apocalytic chatter:
(comments posted on an article on Filipino scientists refute the Mayan apocalypse in the inquirer.net )
Just read Mathew 24 it’s complete. In fact, some had already happened. We’re almost there. As soon as the Gospel is preached THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, then rapture comes immediately. Let’s welcome our Lord Jesus Christ waving in the clouds for ALL THE WORLD TO SEE with all His Angels. Let’s welcome the groom claiming His bride, i.e., US!
World will not end? Oh, that is bad. I mean I counted on it, I made a lot of loans and the world doesn´t end? Hayzzz
It doesn’t need an astronomer(s) to tell me that the world won’t end this December.
Common sense and “Reading the Bible, with understanding” is all that it takes.
How could you believe a primitive tribe’s prediction when they themselves were not able to overcome the dangers of their very existence, several centuries ago.?

The Mayan civilization is way out of this world. They like to study the stars and heavenly things, but not studying their own environment, and as well as the Earth, the planet they lived. Mayans, actually, didn’t predict, the climate change during their time, and their civilization was brought down due to DROUGHT and DRYNESS that swept across the Central America region, the Equator area.Had they have good study of their water/drainage/irrigation system and storage, they could have survived and fluorish at most to their peak. “World won’t end Dec. 21, astronomers say”
Bummer, I was looking forward to it. Seriously, the world as the Pinoys know it will end after they know the results of next election
To the more than 1000 dead and missing victims of typhoon Pablo their world already ended, to the 27 victims children and adults in the shooting in Sundy School in the United States the Mayan prediction came earlier. The end of the worldl will come to all of us sooner or later so why worry.
It will not end unless it’s the will of GOD to end this cruel world! All GOD’s work is perfect it works wonders! Rest assured the world will not end. Life has it’s end but the start of a new beginning, new hope , new world, new heaven, new experience.
The proofs that attest and declare the works of GOD is the Bible. Please read this book very carefully from the pro-creation of the universe, the constellations, the sun, stars, moon, sky, seas, mountains, animals, everything not even under the sun, but far way beyond in the outer space, underneath the oceans, underground, everywhere, beyond what you can imagine. Anything not man made are handmade of the LORD thy GOD.
‘Sa naniniwala wala ng kailangan pang paliwanag sa ayaw maniwala walang sapat na paliwanag’.
from Ryan Clarke
That is not proof in anyway.
People like you are so hilarious.
’Sa naniniwala wala ng kailangan pang paliwanag sa ayaw maniwala walang sapat na paliwanag’.
If you post something in a forum, you are telling people something you want them to believe in or agree with. So if someone has a different opinion, the unfavorable response is NOT unexpected.
So your only proof is the bible. With that reasoning, anyone can write a book and say Pacquiao created the world. Just like that without any proof. BTW, are termites, mosquitoes and viruses also created by god? They are not hand-made.
from Iggy Ramirez, “Don’t englis me, I’m panic!”
Philippine officials will bribe the end of the world so that it doesn’t happen.
Kung ang end-of-the-world ay kailangan ng PH government approval, hindi talaga aabot sa December 21 deadline, kasi bukod sa napakahabang proseso, sandamak-mak na requirements at clearance ang kailangang i-attach…
In short, may red tape pa rin?
E kelan daw? Sa Dec. 22 baka? Hehe
