“No media coverage allowed of Duterte” media banned from media areas… & reporters ask about drinks, garbage bags, shades

still checking papers, as stated here before: the news media organizations should reinforce their Malacañang beat with more experienced reporters. (Malacañang beat is wherever the President and President-elect go).

Pls view the video below  from Rappler on the announcement that no media coverage would be allowed of the President-elect except that of the government TV station. See video.

After a couple of follow-ups on the announcement, a reporter, without realizing the unprecedentedness of the move, asked:

“Ma’am This concerns all of us… iyung alcoholic drinks, pwede ba?” (“…would alcoholic drinks be allowed?”) Other reporters chimed in without realizing what the real story was:

“Alcoholic drinks pwede ba after the speech?” (would alcoholic drinks be allowed after the speech?)

More relevant questions: “Ma’am, mga reminders sa mga garbage bags?” (“what are the reminders about garbage bags?”)

           More questions of national interest:

“Ma’am, rain or shine ba?” And follow-ups: “Ma’am, ilan ang estimated crowd?”

          “Ilang cctv cameras”

        “Ambulances?”

         And the all-important question:

“Ma’am, marami na yatang naka-shades, paki-remind kung ano ang mga bawal? bawal ba ang shades, big bags…?” (“Ma’am, there are many people already wearing shades, please remind us what are prohibited? shades and big bags?”) and the answer was “ah, yes, bawal ang shades, big bags, inhalers, of course, drugs.” (“yes, those are prohibited: shades, big bags, inhalers, and of course drugs.”)

Let’s listen to that again: “Ma’am, bawal ba ang shades, big bags…?” … (“Ma’am, what are prohibited again — shades, big bags?”)

alam nyo kung ano ang bawal? (do you understand what had just been prohibited?”) —-  BAWAL KAYO (YOU HAVE BECOME THE PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE, YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED), BAWAL ANG MGA REPORTERS (REPORTERS ARE NOW BANNED) KAYO ANG IPINAGBAWAL (YOU HAVE BEEN PROHIBITED); PAPAALISIN KAYO (YOU WILL BE THROWN OUT, ASKED TO LEAVE THE MEDIA COVERAGE AREA, NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE MEDIA COVERAGE AREA), THAT’S THE STORY. DON’T YOU GET IT.

(Pls reinforce your Malacañang beat even if — and now moreso that — reporters are now banned from the media coverage areas.)
