Just woke.

Just woke.   ___ (fright-night photo of author yanked out). Ngiieh!

But there’s nothing like a good night’s sleep knowing that there won’t be congressmen and a President violating our laws to perpetuate themselves to power; not on Tuesday anyway. I texted a friend last week that if she believed in miracles the Supreme Court would TRO the con-ass and we would all have a merry Christmas; but it didn’t take a miracle, well, you could say it was some sort of one, it was Gloria and the threat of people power which made all of them back off; she’d know what it’d be like – having rode  the crest of the people’s movements to install herself to power.

It was church bells pealing in protest, candles being lit to keep vigil, charismatic televangelists dancing and exhorting their followers, red, yellow, green, blue, white, violet flags unfurling, and the  No-el that restored Christmas; the no-elections feature of the draft constitution that alarmed many of the President’s allies such that they intimated to the President they would express withdrawal of  support from con-ass. Gloria interpreted it, too, as practically a withdrawal of support from her, and so the parliamentary coup will not push thru; not on Tuesday at least.

What about Thursday? Can JDV and Malacanang and the trapos still convene the con-ass on Thursday and say they would just remove the no-el feature? If they do that, you would have a May 14 elections for congressmen and senators and local government officials and at the same time a plebiscite that asked voters whether they would want to shift to parliament and do away with the officials that they just voted for. It kinda looks not viable, doesn’t it? To have all candidates from administration, opposition, and independent all campaigning against your plebiscite and your proposal; and to have your plebiscite question on, say, the same ballot, or next to the same ballot, with candidates’ names on them? Not viable, right?

And so, it would have been Jose de Venecia’s one last chance. You cannot put elections and cha-cha-to-parliamentary together in May. There won’t be a con-ass Tuesday or Thursday. It’s a good Monday.
