Bonus points for students: Multimedia straight news stories on the U.P. Diliman Lantern Parade today can be posted here as links; kindly take note of the following: 

1.please lay out your multimedia news report in your own platform and kindly send me the link (pls do not tag me in your post), that is: a written news report with accompanying slideshow or video. Please use any device, even a cellphone, for your multimedia format. 15 shots or more.

2.Please animate your stills (pan, zoom, etc), you can find this function in the video edit software you used in class two weeks ago,  and include transitions (try to remember what we did in class two weeks ago). You can use video cut-to-cut but please don’t use a jarring effect, it’s not an indie movie.

3.pls put audio in your slideshow/ video; do not post a silent/ mute slideshow. You may use the following for audio of your slideshow: a)soundbites of interviews of participants, the soundbites as audio may or may not be  included in the written news story, or don’t have to be embedded as quotes in your news report; b)actual chanting,  cheering, whistling,  during the parade as audio; c)actual marching band music, hala bira rhythmic drumming and chant, etc, d)parts of the program; e)controlled ambient noise. If you’re going to voice-over your slideshow, put a little ambient noise, don’t record it inside a sound-proof booth because it will not jive with the lively nature of the parade; f)actual live singing during the parade. Do not use a commercial jingle or commercially recorded music for your slideshow — you’re not being asked to produce a music video but a multimedia news report (music video is for another course/class).

4.pls do not mindlessly bunch together photos. follow a narrative format for the slideshow (beginning, middle, end). For a traditional narrative, you can start with establishing shots (long shots), then overview shots of the formation, then lanterns, floats, and people. Don’t forget to include people shots, especially those in costume. Your people shots should be action shots. Don’t forget to include tight shots of objects that may interest you. Include low-level shots (literally, feet-level/ asphalt-level); get high and low, wide and narrow.

5.those who do not know how to snap photos: you can use a friend’s shots, with permission and credits; but you are not allowed to rightclick photos from the mainstream news media.

6.You need to send me three selfies at different time frames of the parade just for  convenient confirmation that you were present at the event that you covered (don’t include the selfies in your news report! they should be in a separate link/ post, and kindly send me the separate link. tnx. )

7.Students who are working with DZUP may record their live coverage and post that and send me the link.But you still need to send me selfies even if you’re in the radio booth.

8.For students who are performers at the Lantern Parade (as dancers, singers, drummers, jugglers, fire-eaters): You may instead submit a first-person account of your experience, which may include how you prepared for your show. You also probably have a friend who can take photos for you while you are performing, so it might be a good idea to include photos.

8.you can use other apps but do not spend any money for this.
