Last year, I featured a cover of “Girl on Fire” (i reviewed several dozens — you’d want to pick someone who’s edgier than the original), i found a YouTube singer with stratospheric range (birthday music video for Jane, Nov. 27 post). Many months later, she was discovered by The Voice (US), was coached by Adam LeVine, finished in the top three, and now has a recording contract. Her name is Christina Grimmie (I put her name in the credits of the Nov. 27 music video I made – you can check it out). Actually, she was already producing herself in YouTube with her own musical arrangement, back-up vocals, etc. .
i’m too lazy to make a podcast or discuss anything legal today… i hadn’t run in many days because of the rains.
So… here it is:
This time, here’s something unproduced and raw (everyone in the Philippines can sing, pick anyone in the streets of Cebu or Manila or Davao, and you’ll discover a talent.)
“Unproduced” and on the street, literally —- no karaoke, no videoke, no auto-tune, no microphone, no backup vocals, no production values, no music sheets and guide, and —- multi-tasking driving a taxicab. (filmed by telephone by his passengers, here’s manong taxi cab driver “noli locsin/ rolly locsin”)
(let me edit that, there’s a backseat cameo…)
i think Air Supply will be in town this year; manong i think was plying EDSA in this video…
