there’s digital snow falling in my blog: Thanks, WordPress! The trajectory of the snowfall moves in the direction of the cursor of your computer — watch it change when you move your cursor.
This reminds me of the following conversation last week, when we didn’t have any administrative staff:
me (holding a printout) to a student who happened to drop by to retrieve the printer of their own organization: Bakit ganito ito, may mga blurry lines…? (why is the print like this, there are blurry lines?)
student: ma’am kelangan nang linisin ang printer. (ma’am, the printer has to be cleaned.)
me: pa’no lilinisin yan? (how do we clean this?)
student: ma’am, you can download an app from the internet that will clean it.
me: So… yung dirt ng printer… electronic dirt yun? (So… what you’re saying is, the dirt of the printer… it’s electronic dirt?)
student: ma’am hindi, totoong dirt sya (ma’am, no, it’s real dirt.)
me: so…. yung app… kaya nya maglinis ng physical dirt?! (looks incredulous) (so what you’re saying is…the app… it can clean physical dirt?!)
student [nag-isip bago sumagot (thinks carefully before answering) ]: ma’am, hindi… (ma’am, no…) yung app sends a command to the printer, then the printer cleans itself, it can clean itself.
me: ahh, ok. [ tempted to say, ah, okay, parang pusa, it can clean itself. (tempted to say, ah, okay, it’s like a cat— it can clean itself) ]
i’ve read of 3D printers or printers that can print out three-dimensional objects, that is, the printer receives commands remotely, then releases plastic material to produce small objects in conformity to the design they’ve received — but i didn’t know our printer could lick itself, este, er, could release cleaning material to clean itself.
