Dear internship partners in the internship program (J198)
Re: Safety from contaminated street waters
Thank you for admitting our J198 class member/s to your internship program and providing professional guidance in the practice of the profession.
A couple of hours ago, the faculty received a memo from the Dean relaying the memo of the U.P. Diliman Chancellor encouraging faculty members handling classes this MidYear Term — in view of the heavy rains this Thursday and Friday, August 3, 2023 and August 4, 2023 — to shift to remote or asynchronous modes of learning on said dates.
Embedded below is a jpeg of said memo published in the official U.P. Diliman sites.

Based on this, and the reality of flood waters and mud not subsiding in some metro streets and off-town highways, with many students having to commute and some not equipped with rain boots, may I hereby respectfully request our partner internship-supervisors to consider allowing our internship students to accomplish their tasks for said days in the safety of their homes, with the hours required to finish said tasks credited to their daily time record and hours of work?
This will lessen the risk of exposure to floods with garbage, sewage overflow, and mud waters which are all contaminated with billions of pathogens. We hope you could consider this request.
We hope to continue our close coordination with you. Marami pong salamat.
