Myra shared this reel on FB about Gen Z nurses 🙂
My comment: ROFL — Ikaw naman.
In class last week with Gen Z students at the U.P. College of Media and Communication, University of the Philippines Diliman, in the middle of the lecture on the Bill of Rights, and how to post bail by surety bond in case of arrest and the location of the nearest surety offices, a student started taking selfies, and then started playing with his pink round cartoon character stuffed toy …
Prof: Oh, is that a bag
(some bags look like stuffed toys, you know)
Gen Z student: (laughs) Mam, no, it’s just a thing
Prof: Does it have a bag (tries it on because it goes with her beige cropped blazer)
Gen Z student: Mam, no, (laughs) it’s not a bag
Prof: (holding the plushie) (turning the plushie side-to-side) Where’s the wallet of it? How do i open this
Gen Z: Mam no (laughs) — it doesn’t have a wallet
Prof: Oh, what is its function? Where’s the pitaka (purse) of it?
Gen Z student: (laughs) Mam, no, it’s just a thing
Prof: Oh, okay, you just squish it, for stress (laughs, returns the squishy). Okay. (faces class) When you post your bail by surety, where do you go?
Entire class, all Gen Z students: Mam, you go to Malakas Street! That’s the nearest location of buildings with surety offices.
Prof: Very good! Yes! Pwede na kayo maging loww-yers!
