Finally, the Philippine President acknowledged that Senator Bato is a fugitive. The UP College of Media and Communication is the first public institution to point out that Senator Bato was a fugitive running away from a valid international arrest warrant for crimes against humanity,
in a statement of concern on the role of the media –
— a position paper that has become its most viral, released 12 hours after shots were fired inside the Senate endangering the lives of many including media workers and government employees,
36 hours after Senator Bato ran away from his arresting officers,
and 7 hours after Senator Bato fled the Senate building.

Here is the Philippine President before an international audience in Japan expressing that he viewed the Senate chaos with “horror” at that time as the Senate has “descended” into “sheltering a fugitive”:
The statement was written by an interdisciplinary team of five female faculty members across departments and programs
and reviewed and edited by the college executive board consisting of representative of each department and institute in the college.
