When a young person dies, it is always tragic.
Three years ago, this blog featured a cover of “This Girl is on Fire” for a birthday video for Jane. There were dozens and dozens of versions of that song on YouTube, and I opened and closed each after a few notes, but i was stopped in my track by a particular cover that broke the ceiling for stratospheric notes. It was edgier than the original so I chose it, the name of the vocalist was Christina Grimmie. This was many months before she was “discovered” by the talent show “The Voice”. I put her name in the credits of that 2013 video I produced from photos. Here is the link of that post:

“For us the fields are new,
For us the woods are rife
With fairy secrets, deep and true,
And heaven is but a tent of blue
Above the game of life.
The world is far away:
The fever and the fret,
And all that makes the heart grow gray,
Is out of sight and far away…”
