For all class members: Our 45-minute distraction-free face-to-face learning
In order to ensure that class members who are listening intently and those who are making a presentation are not distracted by the sight and sound of those who are using laptops while active class discussion is ongoing, writing note pads (lined yellow pad paper) and pens will be provided to those who want to take down notes during classes (in addition to the lecture notes already provided priorly to students) and the use of laptops for 45 minutes during active class discussion shall NOT be allowed (NO LAPTOP USE FOR 45 MINUTES DURING THE CLASS DISCUSSION.) Class members are invited to get their writing pads and pens from the Department if they do not have any writing pads or pens.
This is also consistent with the no -phone-use policy for 45 minutes of class discussion.
It is also consistent with the policy and practice in all basic education.
Class members who use their phones or laptops during the 45 minutes of class discussion will be asked to leave the room to prevent further disruption.
(This is subject to instructions stated in the course module on emergency glancing on phone screens for 10 seconds only in case of emergencies arising from disturbances of weather, floods, earthquakes, arrests, summons from the Chancellor or the Dean, etc). Assigned presenters who wish to use slides may use a laptop during their presentation only.
No device-use for 45 minutes lang po ito, for a 45-minute distraction-free face-to-face learning
Marami pong salamat, and we look forward to engaged face-to-face discussions
