with thesis adviser Prof. Yvonne Chua.

The Best Thesis awardee of the Department of Journalism will receive recognition during the commencement exercises, a plaque with the citation, and a sponsorship of P5,000 from multi-awarded journalist Ces Oreṅa-Drilon.

Awarding ceremonies will be at Graduation 2011 at the U.P. Film Center on April 17 (call time at 9am).

Top news anchor Ces OreñaDrilon was chosen to sponsor this year’s Journalism Best Thesis Award at Graduation 2011

Multi-awarded journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon  was chosen to sponsor this year’s  Journalism Best Thesis Award of the Department of Journalism,  U.P College of Mass Communication.  The top news anchor was selected as sponsor by the Department to showcase the best in the field of journalism.

The following work have been shortlisted for this year’s best thesis award: “The Family that Prays Together Stays Forever: An Investigative Study on Congress’ Failure to Pass Anti-Dynasty Bills” by Fylgia Lynne Abinoja Bantilan and Shielo Mapa Mendoza, with thesis adviser Prof. Yvonne Chua; “The Church and the 4th Estate: A Study on the Catholic-run News Organization Oblate Media Center” by Fidel Maxiom Mosqueda Diego III and Vincent Blanco Bascos with thesis adviser Ms. Lucia Tangi; and “A Content-analysis of the Reportage on the Laiban Dam Project by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Philippine Star, and the Manila Bulletin” with thesis adviser Prof. Danilo Arao.

The best thesis is chosen by the journalism faculty every year  in recognition of excellence in research and writing,  and groundbreaking and relevant work in the field of journalism and media studies. The award will be given at the graduation rites on April 17 at the U.P. Film Center (call time at 9am)

KBP Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year Ces Drilon is the first journalist chosen to sponsor the award.
