Now, the House and the Senate buckle down to work; or so we think. JDV will campaign for Chacha while oppositionists will campaign to install themselves.
A well-known oppositionist who was one of those who topped the senatorial elections, was once asked about his legislative agenda; and he said that the most important law to be passed is the budget (GAA) and many of our problems like the rampant extrajudicial killings, could be addressed with the implementation of our laws.
True. Both true. But if your prosecutorial and investigative bodies are not working, what do you do? Grandstand in Senate inquiries? Hold court in kapihans and press conferences? Campaign to position yourself?
That’s the route that he and those like him would take: senators who want to be President someday. That’s why when asked during the election campaign what their legislative agenda was: they dismissed the question; they said the Senate had other functions too; that it was all in passing the budget and implementation of the laws.
That system is not working and those killings continue because those who lead the prosecutorial and investigative bodies and their principal, the President, are impervious to any kind of criticism and grandstanding, while politicians like him continue to be oblivious of their real job.

I could give you those legislative measures, those you could institute (god knows how many people shamelessly steal ideas from this blog), but why would i want to fill up your lack of imagination, lack of interest, empty rhetoric? I would give them to a more earnest, deserving legislator. The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) is investigating the “forced disappearance” of Jonas Burgos; and just the other day, summoned the ISAFP Chief Major General Delfin Bangit. He refused to attend, said he was busy, practically told the CHR: shove it up you’re a_ _.
See? I told you. Impervious.
