at the moment:

   On the street where we grew up.

    Here with  my brother Teng, and Jane,  Mommy, and the kids — before the flight back … The old sampaloc (tamarind)  tree is still there, but the green lawn, wide open sidewalks, playful stone fences, and Girly, Vicky, Joy, Tessa are no longer here, the alley leading to our house where we harvested vegetables, and made soap bubbles from gumamela flowers and leaves, and played hide-and-seek behind San Francisco shrubs , and coaxed   rose plants to bloom, now a dark pavement being walked by a stranger…
