When a Philippine legislator wears new designer clothes
or a new designer bag worth more than twice their monthly salary of ₱300,000,
and news reporters, anchors promote them for benefits, what do you call that?
Why do legislators flaunt their UNEXPLAINED wealth?
They know they stole public funds — why do they flaunt it?
It’s called:
Impunity.
Here’s a dopey idea:
Soft news reporters, instead of promoting impunity, finally do some math when featuring SONA Fashion, or what I call Impunity Fashion.
The clothing allowance per annum of a government employee is pegged at ₱7,000.
The monthly salary without kickbacks and pork barrel of a legislator is ₱300,000.
Average households typically spend 3% to 4% on apparel.
4% of ₱300,000 is ₱12,000.
Therefore, any congressman/ legislator/ representative strutting around in new designer clothes, shoes, bags worth more than ₱12,000
is romping with taxpayers’ hard-earned money —
mga kurakot! magnanakaw! plunderers!
Tag them.
Call them out. Drag them to court,
they’d look better in handcuffs.
Let’s change SONA fashion: tag- price the corrupt legislator’s designer clothes then stamp the photo with “Plunderer” — Lezz go!
