DOH & natl govt should reiterate that lockdown will not include food items: See grocery shelves, raided half-empty 8 hours after Declaration of Public Health Emergency, photos shot at 8pm March 9 #Covid19

DOH (Department of Health) and the national government should reiterate that the lockdown will not include food items: See grocery shelves, raided half-empty 8 hours after Declaration of Public Health Emergency, photos shot at 8pm March 9

The government approved the Declaration of a Public Health Emergency at about 1pm today March 9. At about 8pm today or eight hours after the Declaration of Public Health Emergency, here’s what the grocery shelves looked like in Quezon City, center of the city : Half of the canned food items and half the toiletries are gone.

(Filipinos will not hoard bottles of drinking water, they will hoard toilet paper) .

Upon inquiry with the grocery manager whether or not the grocery store would be closed in case there is a “lockdown” of public and private facilities: She said she did not know, it would depend on instructions to her by the owner or the government.

This is only eight hours after.

Tomorrow, these shelves will be emptier.
So …

… at least, i did not panic.
