Such perfect timing!

i started to practise my food plating photography this week!

Here’s my first ever food plate photo, shot perpendicularly or at a 90-degree-angle from the plate, for the weekly photo challenge, plus…

…to start a new “genre”, the blog will be including the creator of the food plate (presumably, also the chef) — wouldn’t you want a photo of the chef or the cook with the food photograph?

   Here’s to a new “genre”:

My Food Plating Photography 101… with the creator-chef
1fromabove…and the chef, meditatively plating my breakfast last Monday (let’s start a new “genre” by including a photo of the creator of the food plate)

hope you like the new “genre”: food plate and the chef. Happy weekend!

The oft-quoted “paradox of energy”: but here, “energy drinks” kill

The oft-quoted  “paradox of energy”:  but here, “energy drinks” kill (health post)

i know –– they make your heart beat faster and therefore keep you awake but actually make your mind less quick. Experts  warn against energy drinks  (the well-advertised brands in the Philippines are “red bull” etc.)

“Albany, N.Y. (AP) — High-octane energy drinks including 5-Hour Energy and Monster that promise healthy bursts of energy are getting pulled over in New York. xxx “The probe is examining how the drinks are made, often loaded with caffeine and sugar, along with what critics say is a mostly useless amount of Vitamin B, and how they are marketed at sports events and sometimes in bars. That can lead to a dizzying combination of alcohol impairment without the sedative effect that slows drinkers down and lets them know they aren’t alert enough to drive. xxx “The amount of caffeine varies widely, from about half a cup of coffee to twice the amount or more of a cup of coffee. But Jacobson notes the danger for the young consumers in particular, who may mistake energy drinks for soda and consume large quantities at once.xxx“The amount of caffeine is strictly limited in soda by the Food and Drug Administration, but energy drinks aren’t currently listed as soda; rather, they are in their own new category. U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., has called on the FDA to investigate the energy drink industry after a 14-year-old girl died after drinking two large energy drinks in a short time. Neither Durbin nor the FDA had immediate comment Tuesday on the New York investigation.”

for energy, i recommend 30-minute physical activities and for hydration:  water, fruit juices.

This is one of my favorite drinks — real, fresh coconut water (blog original photo)

i think i can start a series on drinks. The following easy-for-you physical activities will also raise your heart rate a bit to snap you out of doldrums:  walking, climbing the stairs, push-ups, or even just stretching (“scientific” stretching, get the movement from a fitness instructor or research it).
