Hey, this might be useful to you, and maybe i should have a category after all on “health issues” that i have personal experience of,  it might be educational, and lots of people are interested in health discussion. Here’s professional advice from Voltaire “Teng” Lambino, RN,  a registered professional practising nurse based in Los Angeles practising there for more than ten years, who’s been head of  his department there  several times, emailed a few hours ago, (he’s also my brother) (i told him of the odd places i’ve been during/ before the gestation period of the cold):

Quote “The CDC recommendation is strict handwashing for 15 secs.  It’s the best and simplest habit of staying healthy.  There is also this 10-10 rule thats says the aerosol ( or droplet infection in medical lingo ) that a coughing person produces stays airborne for 10 seconds and has a pathologic radius of 10 feet.  Avoid shaking hands during cold season.  That alcohol hand wash is not really effective.  Nothing beats soap, water, and 15 secs.  Recent news in the net says that getting at LEAST 8 hours of continous sleep helps also.  If you have colds and drinking off a bottled liquid dont let that drink stand for more than 10 hours.  If you have left over after that time better get rid of it coz its a medium for the bugs to grow in.” Closed-quote

Okay,  i will break it down in items so you won’t forget:

To avoid catching a cold and the simplest way of  staying healthy:

1.Strict handwashing for 15 seconds. Alcohol handwash not really effective. Nothing beats soap and water, 15 seconds.

2.Avoid shaking hands during cold season.  (avoid kissing people with colds!)

3.Stay away from people who are coughing, the droplet infection that a coughing person produces stays airborne for 10 seconds and can infect within a radius of 10 feet.  (it’s probably worse in airconditioned confines like offices and malls).

4.Recent news: at least 8 hours of continuous sleep will keep you healthy. (most of us do not get 8 hours continuous; i get two hours of continuous sleep. 8 hours  means if you have to be up by 5am you should fall asleep at 10 pm and you were not interrupted  in between.)

5.If you have a cold and drinking off a bottled liquid, don’t let that drink stand for more than 10 hours.

6.If you have left-over food after 10 hours, do not eat it anymore!!! Or maybe get it out of the room (or ref?). Get rid of it because it’s a breeding place for bugs or microorganisms to grow in.

Okay, i hope i was able to itemize it well for easy remembering.
