There is an ongoing hostage-taking situation, Paris Concert Hall, Paris, about 100 hostages, it is being covered live, with live footage by Agence France Presse, and live blow-by-blow account by CNN of police operations. International guidelines on hostage-taking situations provide that there should be a few minutes delay in the airing/ posting of media coverage. As it is, the hostage-takers are able to get information on police operations, number of troops and units involved, their location and positions, what kind of assault weapons being employed, what ladders are being used and where, and what the police know and not know. If the Parisian authorities do not know how to manage the live media coverage of a hostage-taking situation, Agence France Presse, CNN, and other international news agencies should know better. Ano ba! Lives are at stake. (First posted at 8:09 am Manila time)
