    “The gilded sculpture of a young man rising from the fountain … was installed in 2008. The 18-foot mold was made from a plaster cast of artist Donald Harcourt De Lue’s post-World War II work, The Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves. Hail to the Topanga Canyon 

of our brothers and sisters of the Tongva indigenous people, native to America,

indios” and “indians” alike who fought off marauders and conquistadores

     Surviving in a land of three hundred million settlers, invaders, and migrants: 

      Stay alive and thrive!

Pink embraces and Blue skies

fashioning a floating ocean carriage

from the pinkest of a floating luggage 

i stowed myself like a cotton candy wreckage 

fishermen found and hauled the pink package

and brought me 

to family, home, and anchorage
