Nonsensical vlog 1 (power outage, 6th day of rains, wind bursts)

Sixth day of rains and sudden wind bursts in the city for which the weather bureau PAGASA has no tag/ label/ category/ declaration/ typhoon signal (no typhoon signal in the metro), save to say they’re monsoon rains with monsoon surges and a mesocyclone here and there.

There is no shortness/ narrowness/ thinness  of vocabulary on the part of underpaid, unrewarded government employees in the weather bureau (PAGASA), just a lack of concern for the lives of people as they have to struggle for the viability of their own existence and their families’.

There was a day-long power outage at work going on its second day tomorrow.

Who works during a power outage? Only “martyr” people like us.

Storm  angst part two. Plus… an attempt at nonsensical vlogging! Wouldn’t you rather view a vlog…? the operational term is nonsensical. part one (a video log – vlogging on errands in the rain after work.) Youtube users vlog by filling up the video with their face and speaking to the computer.  that’s probably what this genre is all about. but it’s more interesting to  shoot. Don’t know the words/ lyrics, will just google it later. Maybe serialize it line by line until the weather bureau finds the words. When people say, “there are no words… etc.” , they are trying to express condolences. Here, the weather forecasters have the words — words only they could understand — “na- tweet naman namin, we tweeted the forecast: we said, gale warning, mesocyclone, one hour before.”

“Typhoon Ferdie” & “is it the end of the world?”

copy-pasted from the official Twitter account of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), a government agency in charge of traffic regulation in the god-forsaken eternally traffic-jammed streets of Metro Manila, storified by InterAksyon.com (the blog followed the link from that story):

Because of the incessant rains yesterday, a follower of the Twitter account of MMDA asked the authorities:

“Is it the end of the world?”

A related story from the news site (InterAksyon.com) said that the flurry of tweets yesterday showed netizens expressing worry or fear of another Ondoy or massive floods occurring yesterday because of the non-stop pitter-patter of rains. It was just a pitter-patter and not a slosh-gush for hours,  but people were afraid again. i’m no expert on social psychology, but someone should do a study – —  i think all of us have a collective Ondoy slight “post traumatic stress syndrome” , it’s like we’re all war survivors,  lived  through the same nightmare, some more than others, and are constantly reliving it everytime there are hard rains.

Here’s how the MMDA calmed down the twitter-follower:

Good morning @MMDA. Any flood updates in España, Manila?

@lesterlintao we don’t have monitoring on that area. It’s under the local authorities, you may call Manila Traffic Hotline 527-3087.
