M230 Graduate School 2nd Issue from empirical anecdotal data personally documented

The second issue is based on the data discussed in the last meeting and will also test the ability of class members to gather their own empirical data. Due to the shortness of the time allocated for this post, the data gathered is only anecdotal and cannot be considered conclusive of the information collected.

For the post on this site: DO NOT DISCLOSE THE NAME, LOCATION, AND OTHER PERSONAL INFO OF THE INFORMANT. But please include their age, gender, and educational attainment.
For the full points, the class member should be prepared to give a critical discussion of the data in class next meeting. In order to authenticate the work, a piece of paper will be routed where the class member will be asked to write down, confidentially, the names or respondents, etc. — which will be all kept confidential.
Instructions: Please randomly survey (face-to-face or digitally/ electronically/ by text or email etc) at least five individuals outside of your immediate family members (random: different ages/ gender/ educational attainment/ occupation) on the following:

a.TV
b.Radio

The class member may also generate anecdotal data as bonus, as follows: For the bonus, please randomly (random: different ages/ gender/ educational attainment/ occupation) survey (face-to-face or digitally/ electronically/ by text or email etc) at least five individuals outside of your immediate family members for info on the following:
Bonus: Have they ever flagged, or reported as inappropriate, or restrained or corrected a netizen in a comment, any post that they thought was abusive? (Sa internet, nakapagsenyal na ba kayo ng anumang komento na abusado, o nai-report ito bilang di kanais-nais, o iniwasto ito o pinigilan sa pamamagitan ng sariling komento?)
a.Yes, one time/ ____ times
b.No
c.Others (pls specify)
A class member may submit both a regular post and a bonus for extra points or may submit just one with deadline next week on Thursday 5pm September 12, 2019. Any post submitted after 5pm of Sept. 12 is considered a “forfeit”, or for zero points.

  12. 2nd Issue (Empirical Anecdotal Data Personally Documented)

Online survey was used to collect the data for the purposes of this study. I have created an online questionnaire through Google Forms and sent links to random circle of friends. I also sent the link to my sister who is an elementary school teacher in Mindanao and ask that some of her students answer the survey.

As of posting, twenty-one (21) individuals have responded to this survey. 47.6% or 10 of them are males and 52.4% (11) are females. They’re from different age groups, ranging from 11 years old to 35 years old.

The respondents also have different educational backgrounds. 12 (57.1%) of them are college graduates, 5 (23.8%) are in post graduate level, 2 (9.5%) have college units, and 2 (9.5%) are still in elementary school.

When ask what is the communication device they open first when they wake up in the morning, 18 (85.7%) answered cellphone, 1 (4.8%) answered mobile tablet, 1 (1.4%) answered laptop and 1 (4.8%) specifies “book” as her/his answer.

    BONUS

For the BONUS points, I used the same respondents and made them answer the question; “Have you ever flagged or reported as inappropriate a netizen whose comment or social media post you find abusive?”

Eleven (52.4%) answered no, 3 (14.3%) answered yes on a one-time occasion only and 7 (33.3%) answered yes in two or more occasions.

  13. I randomly conducted this survey from my circle of friends through personal chat or messenger group chats.

    SECOND ISSUE:

Out of TWELVE respondents whom I surveyed, all TWELVE of them look at their mobile phones as the communication device they all look at first in morning. (NINE) of them are college graduates, (ONE) is a Highschool graduate, while (TWO) are MS graduates.
(9 females and 3 males, age group ranging from 20 – 40 years of age.)

    BONUS:

    (SAME GROUP OF RESPONDENTS)

Out of TWELVE respondents whom I surveyed, (FOUR) of them responded NO to having flagged or reported anyone online. (TWO), said YES and has done it 5 times while the other less than 5 time. Another (ONE) said YES to having done it 3 times, while the other (FOUR) said YES and has done it only 1 time. (ONE) person answered with OTHER and has either BLOCKED or HIDDEN the persons posts from their timeline.
(9 females and 3 males, age group ranging from 20 – 40 years of age.)

  14. 2nd issue.

I conducted the survey using fb messenger/chat messaging.

Four out of five respondents stated that their mobile phone is the first media device that they open first thing in the morning. While one answered that she opens the TV first. The four are all college graduates while the latter is a high school student.

    Bonus

I conducted the survey using fb messenger/chat messaging.

The respondents who haven’t reported anyone/anything were college graduates aged between 17 to 27 years old and those respondents who reported an account were 25 years old and 33 years old.

  15. The researcher conducted a random survey to 29 people via social media messenger platforms.

All of which are college graduates. 14 respondents were male and 14 of them were female.

Their age ranges from 20 – 40 years of age.

Google forms was used to substantiate data.

    SECOND ISSUE:

93.3% or 28 of the respondents said that they open their mobile phones first thing in the morning. On the other hand, 3.3% or 1 of them answered that he/she opens the radio. Last, 3.3% or 1 of them responded that he/she opens the radio first thing in the morning.

    BONUS:

Surveying the same respondents from the second issue these are the data gathered with regards to engaaging in malicous or offensive posts online:

73.3% or 22 of the respondents answered that they’ve reported posts or contents that they find malicous. Some expressed their reasons such as fake news and nudity.
