iconic yoga teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar, 95

Was just watching last Monday an old  interview of his by CNN — the legendary BKS Iyengar — (see stillshot of my traffic data below, embedded after the youtube vid) …

when I read today that he had died at age 95.

iyengar

i wanted to find out how he answered questions and how he spoke.  I read that most of the yoga poses were invented by his teacher, Krishnamacharya, only at the turn of the century and by him and his classmate Sri Pattabhi Jois (founder of ashtanga) when they established their own schools. So most of the poses we know today are only around a hundred years old; only a few date back to the ancients or “2,000 years ago” such as the lotus pose, the what-i-call the Maya Devi pose (cobbler pose) etc.

( A day before Sri Pattabhi Jois died, I was watching a video of one of his classes to find out how he still actively taught ashtanga yoga at age 80.

Pure coincidences.)

“human error” in MRT train crash does not absolve MRT corp & DOTC

The transportation department held a press con this afternoon to explain that the train crash this week was due to “human error”.

Legally, however, this does not absolve the MRT corporation, the transportation department, and its officials from responsibility…. here are the pertinent laws — this podcast plays automatically … unless the audio is derailed, jumps off the tracks, flies off, smashes against cement… crumples into a heap.

(Music, a few seconds’ snippet, from a song written by Peter Tosh, performed by Bob Marley, photo from the DOTC website on an MRT contract-signing, both used here non-commercially for academic purposes)
