Assignment: Media Law classes today

As part of last week’s discussion on the constitutional right of access to information on matters of public concern (which started off with a categorization and non- exclusive enumeration of what constitutes public records, where “spot reports” of crimes were discussed), the presenter of the FOI EO today should include the update today on the PNP directive “limiting access” to spot reports, and the statements of journalists’ organizations– like the NUJP — on this. Tnx. (Photo credits as stated in the archives)

     1)from all media organizations:    a copy of

Proclamation Number 216 declaring martial law was provided the office of the speaker of the house of representatives by the records keeper of MalacaÑang, as follows (embedded copy) below;

2)Speaker Alvarez said he was not inclined to convene the House;

     3)Sen. Chiz Escudero (via DZBB) said convening Congress was not necessary since they have not received any motion or resolution revoking or seeking to revoke the declaration of martial law
