WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Split-Second Story (or a story in a snapshot):
The WordPress sample photo shows the last surviving music store chain in Canada, symbolizing the “end of an era for music stores”.
Here is my post for the photo challenge:
THE END OF AN ERA OF WAR
Photograph by Myra Lambino, text by Myra as follows:
“The sea of crosses down the beach is dedicated to the US soldiers killed in Iraq week-to-week, each one of the crosses planted by the Veterans for Peace Group.” …
“J… (the golden child 🙂 ) did not want to go down the beach so we could take a closer look at the makeshift crosses and caskets…”
(He is standing on bridge happily eating his burrito; i split the photo, reversed one of the halves, put the same halves together for two half-screens into one: a split-photo story for the split-second story photo challenge.)
and i said “Maybe he doesn’t like war. J for President”…
This sea of crosses, hopefully, has stopped expanding, the war in Iraq having wound down.
The other day, the U.S. president announced troops would have been pulled out of Afghanistan by the end of this year.
It is the end of a warring era.
*******
And that’s our post — happy new beginnings, everyone!
Photographed and sent by Myra Lambino, Sequoia National Park, a forest preserved and protected by law. Myra’s email: “The guy thought no one was looking. But i was watching him w/ my zoom lens. Man, we never learn!”
