Critics’ Cut: The 3rd Media Monitor (or 1st Bonus, for those who have not submitted any bonus post) can be posted here, deadline Friday 5pm Sept.4. (Pls do not put more than one hyperlink when posting, otherwise, the spam-catcher will block it. Tnx. )
[A tip for those who want to submit the 1st Bonus post: Most premature-campaigning ads are aired on primetime free tv at 6pm-8pm — or as ads of primetime news on free tv. Students who have no access to tv can watch the tv flat screen on the lobby of the building — tune in to primetime news. Premature campaign ads that have been commented on here cannot be used again by other members of the class. Students may also surf the internet for material. Outdoor media (billboards, tarps, stickers, etc.) may also be used provided an original photo is provided.]
For students, on meeting deadlines: 1pm presentation of selfie news report (or 2:45 pm, call time at 1pm): Schedule: At 1:15pm, we will take up the different schools of thought in defining news, starting with a presentation from the handling faculty. After the discussion, a 15-minute break will follow. Upon resumption at 2:45pm, each student will be asked to present his/her work. In the spirit of transparency and fairness, it is being disclosed here that two students have asked that “special consideration” be given to them for not meeting the deadline. Pls review the guidelines provided on the first day of classes: Any “special consideration” or special treatment, or individualized special extension of deadline, given to a student is unfair to all other students who work hard and make sacrifices to meet deadlines. Students who are “not physically fit”, or not healthy enough, or who are not diligent enough, to meet simple deadlines are requested to drop the class. The last day for dropping is Oct. 30. There is no extension of deadline. Thank you for your attention.
